Establishment of NCI will have comprehensive cancer care facilities in Surgical, Radiation, Medical, Community Oncology, and Palliative care etc. The institute will have facilities for Research & Development, Training and Capacity Building. There will be research fellows in various areas including Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Pathogenesis, Cancer Screening etc. The institute will also have course on Oncology Nursing. All facilities and capacities proposed will befit international standards.
710 bedded hospital:
The hospital will be the state of art referral center with comprehensive cancer care facilities under one roof. This hospital will have departments in Surgical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology, Radiology, Tumor Pathobiology, Lab medicine, Anesthesiology and Hospice, Preventive Oncology, Medical Physics, Hospital administration, Psycho-oncology, Palliative care, Blood bank and Emergency. Since majority of cancer in our country present in late stages (stages III and IV), special emphasis will be given to develop preventive/community oncology and palliative care.
200 bedded dedicated Research Wing mainly covered by the departments of Surgical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology, Anesthesiology and Palliative Care
50 bedded Emergency Observation set up will be provided in the Hospital.

Equipment Requirements:There will be enough scope for recreation / spiritual activity for all kinds of cancer patients of all age groups. Provision will be made for creation of an Administrative block, Research block, Academic block, OPD and other service blocks. There will be facility of residential accommodation for all categories of staff. This will help the staff to spend more time in the campus of the institute rather than in the road and traffic jams. There will also be facility for basement parking and a pedestrian plaza.
In view of the special status of the institute as an apex centre for referral and research, the most sophisticated, state of the art instruments will be procured for both the research and clinical divisions. The equipment requirements has been assessed and reviewed by the expert committee constituted for this purpose by AIIMS and certified by Chief, DR. BRA IRCH AIIMS.
